I met Dan last weekend and learned about his amazing biography so thought must share here :

Dan Mazur is an American mountaineer, expedition leader, and social entrepreneur best known for his achievements on the world’s highest peaks and his deep commitment to ethical, sustainable adventure. As the co-founder and director of SummitClimb, Mazur has led more than 75 major expeditions across the Himalayas, Karakoram, and other great ranges — including climbs on Mount Everest, K2, Gasherbrum, Cho Oyu, and Ama Dablam.

Mazur’s reputation extends beyond his impressive climbing résumé. He’s celebrated for his 2006 Mount Everest rescue, when he and his team discovered Australian climber Lincoln Hall, left for dead near the summit. Mazur halted his own summit attempt to save Hall’s life — a decision hailed worldwide as one of the greatest acts of compassion and integrity in mountaineering.

This incident defined Mazur’s philosophy: “The mountain will always be there — people matter more.”
