MeadoWatch: A Citizen-Science Program on Wildflower Timing in Mt. Rainier National Park

MeadoWatch is a long-running volunteer-powered program that tracks the timing of wildflower reproduction—budding, blooming, fruiting, and beyond—across Mt. Rainier’s alpine meadows. Since 2013, the project has helped scientists understand how climate shapes these seasonal cycles.

In this talk, Dr. Berry Brosi will highlight key findings from past and current MeadoWatch research and introduce a new pilot effort launched in summer 2025 to monitor plant–pollinator interactions—an exciting next step in understanding how flowers and their pollinators respond to a changing climate.
