General Rules applicable to all activities workgroup 

  1. Plan Ahead:
    • Research the location, weather forecast, and trail conditions.
    • Share your plans with someone who won’t be joining you.
  2. Stay on Marked Trails:
    • Stick to designated paths to prevent erosion and protect local ecosystems.
  3. Leave No Trace:
    • Pack out all trash and litter.
    • Minimize impact on the environment by avoiding disturbing plants and animals.
  4. Respect Wildlife:
    • Observe animals from a distance, avoid feeding them, and don’t approach nests or dens.
  5. Pack Properly:
    • Bring enough water, food, clothing, and essential gear for your activity.
    • Consider a first aid kit, navigation tools, and communication devices.
  6. Check Equipment:
    • Inspect gear before heading out to ensure everything is in working order.
  7. Dress Appropriately:
    • Wear weather-appropriate clothing, including layers for changing conditions.
    • Use sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats for sun protection.
  8. Stay Hydrated:
    • Carry an adequate supply of water and drink regularly to stay hydrated.
  9. Obey Regulations:
    • Follow rules, guidelines, and regulations set by the park or area you’re visiting.
  10. Practice Fire Safety:
    • Observe fire bans and regulations in dry areas.
    • If allowed, use established fire rings and fully extinguish fires before leaving.
  11. Be Aware of Weather:

    • Be prepared for sudden changes in weather conditions.

    • Let someone know your route, expected return time, and contact them when you’re back.
  13. Respect Quiet Zones:
    • Maintain noise levels in designated quiet areas to preserve the natural environment.
  14. Stay Calm in Emergencies:
    • If lost or injured, stay calm and assess your situation.
    • Signal for help using whistles, mirrors, or other appropriate methods.
  15. Practice Water Safety:
    • Wear life jackets when engaging in water activities.

  17. Respect Private Property:
